Ladakh L-G directs accelerated action on development initiatives

Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), chaired a comprehensive review meeting with Departmental Secretaries/Head of Departments (HODs) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on June 21. The meeting focused on discussing various issues and the progress of ongoing schemes and project works under their respective departments.

During the meeting, the Lt Governor emphasized the importance of working towards the welfare of UT Ladakh. He instructed the Departmental Secretaries/HODs to inform the Advisor to the Lt Governor in case of their absence from station or leave.

Key topics discussed included updates on draft Recruitment Rules for gazetted posts, curbing trespassing of Bakarwals in Rangdum grazing area, tourism infrastructure development at Damsna's Trout Farm in Kargil, appointments under SRO-43, allocation of funds from Government of India, establishment of Sainik School, promotion of sea buckthorn, installation of Dehairing Pashmina Plant, progress on educational institutions like Government Degree College at Sankoo, Medical College, Sindhu Central University, rationalization of sanctuary boundaries, modifications in pashmina goat pens, helicopter service tendering, Udaan scheme implementation, Thoise civil airport construction, 4G tower saturation by BSNL, Panchayati Raj Institutions elections and municipal area delimitation, Jal Jeevan Mission status, recruitment via Ladakh Subordinate Services Staff Selection Board, Sewage Treatment Plant at War Memorial Colony, MRI machine procurement for Kargil District Hospital, Tourism Department's logo and Vibrant Villages Programme, promotion of Changthang lamb meat, public conveniences at Khardung La and Chang La passes, and polo training for girls from the President’s Body Guard.

The Lt Governor directed the concerned Departmental Secretaries/HODs to expedite pending draft Recruitment Rules for gazetted posts, explore long-term solutions for drinking water needs, form a committee for sea buckthorn production enhancement, and ensure clearance of pending electricity bills of government departments through effective financial management.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Lt Governor Dr Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary Sanjiv Khirwar, ADGP Ladakh Dr SD Singh Jamwal, and several other senior officials from various departments.
