Ladakh Infra Developer Alliance calls on CEC to advocate local stakeholder empowerment

A delegation from the newly formed Ladakh Infra Developer Alliance (LIDA) called on Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh on June 12, to discuss key issues related to local participation in infrastructure development across Ladakh.
The delegation comprised LIDA Chairman Tsering Angchuk Tsao, Co-Chairman Sonam Angchuk Chumkar, General Secretary Gelek Phunchok D’Lonpo, and Joint Secretaries.
LIDA, a collective platform of local contractors, transporters, engineers, and infrastructure stakeholders, shared its vision of creating equitable opportunities for local professionals, promoting employment, and building regional capacity through policy-level interventions.
The delegation urged the CEC to prioritize local contractors, engineers, and transporters in government infrastructure projects and proposed the mandatory requirement of a Ladakh Resident Certificate (LRC) for works valued up to ₹10 crore. This, they said, would ensure rightful access and empowerment of local stakeholders in public works.
They also lauded the CEC’s leadership in ushering reforms in Ladakh, particularly the historic decision to reserve 33% seats for women in LAHDC Leh, and expressed gratitude to the Government of India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for continued support in the region’s development.
CEC Gyalson reiterated the Council’s commitment to empowering local stakeholders and assured the delegation that their concerns would be taken up with the UT Administration for appropriate consideration.
