Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, convened a preparatory meeting for the upcoming Ladakh Festival 2024 at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Leh, on September 10.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shruti Arora; Additional District Development Commissioner, Leh, Sonam Nurboo; District Superintending Engineer PWD Dorjey Gyatso; CPO Tsewang Gyalson; Chief Controller Finance Dr. Zulfikar Ali; Director Tourism Department, Fesal Iqbal Tantray; Dy. Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art and Culture, Tsewang Paljor; Superintendent of Police, Traffic; Xen Construction Division; Chief Agriculture Officer Thinles Dawa; Chief Medical Officer, Leh; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer; Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh, and other officials.

The Ladakh Festival, scheduled to take place from September 21 to September 30, is set to be a grand celebration of the region’s rich cultural heritage. The festival will officially begin with an inaugural ceremony at the Polo Ground in Leh on September 21, following a vibrant Cultural Walk from Karzoo to the Polo Ground.

CEC Gyalson directed that the festival be celebrated with grandeur and efficiency, emphasizing the importance of coordination among various departments. The meeting reviewed the roles and responsibilities of committees involved in organizing the festival and discussed the itinerary of events. Throughout the festival, visitors can expect a range of exciting activities, including traditional archery and horse polo competitions. Daily cultural performances representing different regions of Ladakh will provide a glimpse into the local heritage.

The festival will also feature an archival exhibition, a heritage walk from Leh Palace to Chokhang Vihara, and displays of traditional Chams and Thangka paintings. Promotion for the festival will be extensive, with social media campaigns, hoardings, and local media such as Red FM driving awareness. Students from Ladakh University will welcome guests at the airport, while temporary branded gates at key locations like Airport Road, Polo Ground, and Eco Park will enhance the festival’s visibility. A special highlight will be the TRIFED stall at Eco Park, which will showcase Ladakhi arts and crafts. The event will be documented by professional photographers and videographers, and supported by local influencers for wider reach. Concluding the meeting, the CEC expressed optimism that the Ladakh Festival 2024 would be a resounding success.
