L-G discusses various projects with Departmental Secretaries
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) reviewed the progress of the ongoing projects and discussed prospective projects along with the grievances flagged by the public related to their respective departments.
L-G instructed all Departmental Secretaries and HODs to ensure the completion of necessary exercises before the model code of conduct (MCC) for the general elections comes into effect so that the administration could spend the maximum funds allocated by the Government of India for the benefit of the people of Ladakh and the development of the region. He also instructed Planning and Finance Department officials to dispose of the files and release the funds to avoid delays and instructed the concerned officials to provide assistance/relief to the victims of fire incidents in Leh and Kargil without any delay.
He mentioned various issues flagged by the public, including the installation of signages on curves, usage of glowing colours for road dividers, taking punitive action to check the usage of high-beam lights during nighttime; the shortage of ministerial staff, and the need to introduce skilled training centre at Govt. Degree College, Zanskar; the notification for the recruitment of teaching/non-teaching staff in the University of Ladakh; the need for a transparent general transfer policy for government employees; the release of salary of contractual staff; the overflowing and spilling of water on road resulting in its freezing; the allocation of departments and issuance of appointment letters to Class IV employees who passed the examination conducted by KSSRB; the continuation of outsourced staff in different departments, Secretariat and LG Secretariat; selection of dental surgeons; the notification of date of examination for general line teacher posts in Kargil; the proposal to develop military heritage tourism in Ladakh; the demand for establishment of Apricot Research Centre in Kargil; the demand for inclusion of Persian/Arabic language in schools in Kargil, the purchase of fire tenders and placing them in police stations in Ladakh to mitigate fire incidents; the progress of repair work at Ladakh House in Ladakh; the promotion of naib tehsildar to the post of tehsildar along with filling up of wildlife posts; the number of draft recruitment rules for gazetted posts submitted to UPSC; the progress on the purchase of MRI machine for District Hospital Kargil; update on Government Degree College, Zanskar; the administrative functioning of SKUAST units in Ladakh; the spending of instalments for PM SHRI and PM POSHAN by the Education Department; the need to find qualified and suitable technicians to instal the pashmina dehairing plant; the tendering for helicopter service in Ladakh and also Hotel Moonland; the progress of Vibrant Villages Programme in Ladakh; the status of distribution of pashmina kid pen to herders in Changthang, etc.
Further, he instructed the Director of School Education to comply with his instructions for the detachment of schoolteachers in Kargil at the earliest and submit a report in this regard. He also instructed the Secretary, Sheep, and Animal Husbandry for extensive distribution of pashmina kid pens among herders and also to check the feeding of pashmina goats and their kids, the colouring of ears of pashmina goats, avoid overpopulation of pashmina kids in the pen and treatment of diseases by veterinary doctors. He also asked officials of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs for clearance of sugar stock through the public distribution system (PDS).
