Kargil students embark on prestigious polo training, meet with Lt Governor Mishra
A group of students selected from various schools in Kargil district met with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on October 20, as they prepare to embark on a unique opportunity to receive horse riding and polo training with the prestigious President's Bodyguard in Delhi. The students were given a ceremonial send-off at the LG's residence.
Present at the meeting were the Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, First Lady, Neelam Mishra, and other officials.
During the interaction, the LG expressed his strong commitment to promoting sports, particularly among female students. He encouraged the selected students to take full advantage of this invaluable training opportunity, urging them to strive for excellence. He assured them that all necessary arrangements, including accommodation and meals, had been made and emphasized the importance of discipline and proper conduct throughout their training.
Secretary YSS, Vikram Singh Malik, reinforced the LG's message, reminding the students that they were representing Ladakh and should make the most of the training provided by the President's Bodyguard, one of the country's most prestigious regiments. He also highlighted the significance of maintaining discipline.
The students, selected for their interest and aptitude, are expected to return to Ladakh with honed skills and a greater appreciation for the sport of polo and horse riding. This initiative reflects the LG's commitment to fostering sports and providing unique opportunities for the youth of Ladakh.
