Kargil introduces first-ever Arabic textbook for Government schools
Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, released the first-ever Arabic textbook for Classes 1 to 8 in government schools during a ceremony held at the Conference Hall in Baroo.
Executive Councillor Aga Syed Mujtaba, Deputy Commissioner and CEO of LAHDC Kargil Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, various councilors, Chief Education Officer Kargil, Principal DIET Dr. Abdul Aziz, Arabic teachers, representatives of religious organizations, and other officials attended the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Akhoon expressed his gratitude to Dr. Abdul Aziz and his team for their efforts in compiling the textbooks, calling it a historic moment for Ladakh. He emphasized the vast potential of the Arabic language, particularly in offering employment opportunities in fields such as adventure tourism, medical tourism, translation, and more.
Dr. Akhoon highlighted Arabic's strategic importance, noting its widespread use across Middle Eastern countries. He emphasized that learning the language could strengthen ties between Kargil and the Middle East.
He also stressed that Arabic should not be viewed solely through a religious lens but appreciated as a global, sweet-sounding language. The new textbooks, he noted, would benefit students and others interested in learning the language.
In his address, the CEC mentioned that a committee has approached the UT Government and the Government of India to advocate for the hiring of Arabic teachers under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, similar to the recruitment patterns for Boti, Hindi, and Urdu teachers.
