The International Day of Yoga, marked annually on June 21 since 2015, aims to raise awareness of the benefits of practicing yoga. To commemorate the day, yoga enthusiasts gathered early in the morning at the Bemathang stadium to participate in a yoga session.

Notable participants included CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon; Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Suhail Ahmed; District Officers from various departments; staff from different departments; members of the SIA and NYK; youth; students from different schools; and other concerned officials.

Following the yoga session, artists from different cultural troupes and schools in the Kargil district presented colorful cultural programs, showcasing the diverse and unique cultures of the district.

The idea of Yoga Day was first proposed by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, on September 27, 2014, during his speech at the UN General Assembly. During this speech, he introduced a resolution to establish June 21 as International Yoga Day. The date of June 21 was chosen because it is the Summer Solstice, the day with the most sunlight of the year.
