Chairman of the Reservation Commission for Actual Line of Control (ALC) Ladakh, Justice Bansi Lal Bhat (former Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh), visited several villages near the Line of Control (LoC) on August 9, including Garkone, Darchik, Sanachay, Hordass, Gurgurdo, Batalik, Silmo, Chulichan, and Lalung. He interacted with local residents to assess basic facilities in these remote areas.

During his visit, Justice Bhat focused on identifying essential services and infrastructure needs in villages adjacent to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Union Territory of Ladakh. He emphasized the role of the Indian Constitution and the justice system in advancing social justice and ensuring the welfare of marginalized groups.

Justice Bhat highlighted the commitment to justice and inclusivity as central to the ethos of the Indian Constitution. He stressed that no one should be left behind in the nation's progress and underscored the importance of making justice accessible to every individual.

In his discussions, Justice Bhat addressed concerns raised by local residents regarding hardships over the past seven decades. The villagers reported feeling overlooked in development efforts, with issues related to education and economic resources impacting the youth. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the slow process of identifying areas adjoining the ALC for extending reservation benefits, pointing out that similar benefits have been provided to residents in analogous areas of J&K.

The visit was accompanied by former CEC, LAHDC, Kargil/Councillor Silmo, Feroz Khan; ADC Suhail Ahmad; Tsering Mutup, Additional Secretary to the ALC Commission; Hamid Ahmad, Private Secretary to the Chairman for ALC; and Naib Tehsildars Sajjad Hussain and Mohd Ibrahim.
