Hill Council convenes meeting with GOC 14 Corps in Leh Resolves to further strengthen army and civil relation
An introductory meeting of Hill Council Leh with the army officers of 14 Corps Leh was held on December 5 at Council Secretariat.
Welcoming GoC 14 Corps Leh, Lt. General Harinder Singh, Gyal P Wangyal, CEC, Hill council, Leh highlighted the exemplary cordial relationship between the India Armed Forces and the civil population.
Briefing about the transition phase of UT Ladakh, he said that the role of Army in the progress of Ladakh was and will remain crucial.
To further strengthen and consolidate the existing relation and cooperation between civil and army, he further stressed on convening Civil Military Liaison conference in the coming months.
Lt General Harinder Singh said that Ladakh after UT is on the way of change with lots of opportunities coupled with challenges and the leadership and people of Ladakh should use their wisdom responsibly in choosing the right opportunities.
He said that dealing with the peculiar environment and terrain of Ladakh, generating capacity, managing resources and retaining and maintaining a societal balance of Ladakh is going to be a key factor in driving the engine of Ladakh towards sustainable development and progress.
Talking about the contribution of the army in the economy of Ladakh as the largest consumer and job provider, he assured support from the Army to the Hill Council and civilians.
He further stressed developing more mutual understanding and a close relationship between the Army and Civilians, especially in border areas.
Issues like the supply of local agro products to the army including milk, sharing of army OFC to strengthen mobile network in borders area and menace of dog issues, etc were discussed in the meeting.
Tsering Sandup, Deputy Chairman; Executive Councilors Councillors and Senior army officers of 14 Cops Leh were present.
