Hemis village becomes first in Ladakh to publish digitized land records
The first-ever digitized land records of Hemis village under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP) were officially published at a ceremony held at the Hemis Community Hall on October 14.
Hemis has now become the first village in UT Ladakh to have digitized land records. Three key documents were launched during the event: the Digitized Jamabandi, the Digitized Survey Map, and the Area Differential Sheet.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, highlighted the importance of modern, updated digital land records, emphasizing their role in the all-round development of UT Ladakh. He encouraged public participation in the land digitization scheme, stressing its long-term benefits for future generations.
In his address, Dr. Kotwal also spoke on the significance of Hemis Monastery, stating, "This is the world-renowned monastery. All the Buddhist religious scriptures have now been digitized." He further mentioned plans to translate these records, ensuring they are accessible in both Bodhi and other languages, making the records widely available.
During the event, Dr. Kotwal inaugurated a modern record room at the newly built SDM Office. The Deputy Commissioner/CEO of Leh, along with the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Leh, and officials from the CPWD department, were also present.
Executive Councillor for Minority Affairs, Ghulam Mehdi, and Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, were in attendance, marking this important step in land record modernization in Ladakh.
