Heavy snowfall disturbs normal life in Kargil
This was revealed by the Executive Councillor for PWD and Education LAHDC Kargil Ghulam Rasool Naqvi during a press conference.
He informed that the Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Haji Hanifa Jan conducted a meeting of Councillors and District Officers, during which it was informed that due to the heavy snowfall farmers incurred loss in the form of damage to Apricot, trees and crops.
In addition to this damage to residential houses, electric poles and wires, water supply schemes, irrigational canals were also reported.
Rasool Naqvi also said that a committee has been framed by the Council to assess the damages and this committee will submit the report to the council which will be submitted to State and Centre Government thereafter for relief and special package.
He further added that LAHDC Kargil will strive hard for getting all possible help and monetary relief for the farmers from the Centre and State for which council will seek the help of the representatives of Kargil in State.
Replying to a question of restoration of electricity he said that electricity to District Hospital Kargil has been restored and electricity to the town and its periphery will be restored within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Executive Councillor for Rural Development LAHDC Kargil Syed Abbas Razvi visited Pashkum and inspected the areas affected by Flash Floods during which he personally executed the work on Kargil Leh Road and restored traffic after giving assurance to the public for redressing their demands.
People of Pashkum protest due to the insufficient drainage system and blocked the traffic on Kargil-Leh Road. The Flash Flood destroyed the fields and water poured into some houses and the famous hLhartsey Masjid.
