Health camp brings vital medical services to remote Kargil village, Itchoo
As part of the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a health camp was organised by the Block Medical Officer of the Community Health Centre in Sankoo on January 9 at Itchoo.
The health camp aimed to address health issues, promote preventive healthcare, and provide medical care to those who cannot afford it, demonstrating a commitment to accessible healthcare for all.
The camp offered various health services to the general public of Itchoo, including General OPD services, screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), laboratory facilities, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) Tuberculosis Awareness, generation of ABHA (Health IDs), creation of Golden Cards, and other health services.
During the health camp, a total of 15 patients received medical attention, including 12 for NCD screening, 12 for laboratory tests, and 02 CB NNAT samples collected for TB screening. An awareness education session on non-communicable diseases (NCD), hypertension, diabetes, and healthy lifestyles was conducted for the participants.
The medical team from CHC Sankoo, led by Block Medical Officer Dr. Ghulam Hussain, trekked 18 kilometers through difficult terrain, taking more than ten hours to reach Itchoo from Shargandic. The challenging journey was undertaken to provide healthcare services to the residents of Itchoo, situated at an altitude of 12,760 feet above sea level—one of the remotest and inaccessible villages in the region.
During the program, Dr. Ghulam Hussain briefed the general public about the goals of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra and highlighted its mission. The participants were also informed about various healthcare schemes available to them. The initiative not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also emphasized the importance of preventive measures for long-term well-being in this challenging geographic setting.
