Government Degree College (GDC) Drass, in collaboration with the District Social and Tribal Welfare Officer Kargil and the Education Department, organized a workshop on drug awareness and an Independence Rally under the theme “Viksit Bharat Ka Mantra, Bharat ho Nashe se Swatantra”.

The program aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. It began with a welcome address by Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi, who outlined the purpose of the awareness initiative on substance abuse.

Imtiyaz, Manager of the District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Kargil, took a pledge to support the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) and commit to eradicating drug abuse with his efforts.

Mohd, Project Coordinator of DAAC, highlighted the importance of youth taking social and moral responsibility to combat drug abuse. He discussed both legal and illegal drugs, their misuse, and the objectives of NMBA in fostering a drug-free society.

Shamma Zohra, Project Coordinator of DAAC, addressed the causes and consequences of drug abuse. She noted that experimentation and peer pressure often lead to substance abuse among youth and encouraged students to raise awareness about its repercussions.

The program concluded with an awareness rally, starting from the main market in Drass and culminating at Dak Bungalow. The rally aimed to educate the public about the dangers of illicit drugs and their impact on health and society. Students also proudly chanted national slogans in honor of Independence Day. A total of 120 students from GDC Drass, HSS Drass, and HS Bhimbet participated in the event.
