Forest Division, Leh celebrates ‘World Forestry day’

World Forestry was celebrated by Forest Division, Leh on 21 March at Community Hall Housing Colony, Leh. The celebration initiated with the tree planting by Chief Guest Rigzin Spalbar, Chief Executive Councilor, (LAHDC) Leh. Around 400 to 500 peoples from Housing Colony, Leh participated in the tree planting ceremony.
Mohd. Ali, Divisional Forest Officer, highlighted the role of forest in maintaining the ecological balance and stressed among the masses to conserve the natural resources for the survival of not only human beings but also for other living creatures.
Speaking on the occasion Rigzin Spalbar CEC, (LAHDC) Leh stressed on the role of afforestation for not only maintaining ecology balance but also to meet up the fuel wood, fodder and timber requirements of this region besides boosting up the economic conditions and employment generation of the people of this region.
Mohd. Shafi Lassu, Executive Councilor Tourism, Jigmet Takpa Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Ladakh region and head of the different departments of Leh were present on the occasion.
The celebration concluded with vote of thanks to all who participated in the programme.
