Five day Inter School U -17 tournament concludes

The five-days Inter School Tournament for under 17 Boys and girls of High School Leh, Chuchot, Kharu, Nyoma and Durbuk Block organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded on 19 May at Youth Services and Sports Complex opposite Council Secretariat. DC/CEO LAHDC Leh Saugat Biswas was the chief guest and SSP Leh Dr. Sunil Gupta was the guest of honor.
Around 550 students from 30 government and private schools of five blocks of Leh participated in the tournament.
During the five-day tournament football, handball, volleyball and few other athletic competitions were played.
On the concluding ceremony, handball match was played in which Siddartha High School, Stok defeated Druk Padma Karpo School Shey by 3 goals. In 100 meters race girls category Druk Padma Karpo bagged the first position and in 100 meters race again boys of Druk Padma Karpo School Shey got the gold medal. In 400-meter rally boys, Druk Padma Karpo won the gold medal and under -17 category 400-meter relay girls, Moravian Mission School Leh got the gold medal.
Speaking on the occasion SSP Dr. Sunil Gupta highlighted the importance of sports in the school curriculum. He appreciated the students for participating in the tournament.
In the end, Dr. Sunil Gupta distributed prizes among the winners and runner-up team. Vote of thanks was presented by Tsering Tashi, Incharge Officer.
