DC, Leh, reviews registration of Unique Disability IDs All eligible beneficiaries to be covered by March 31

Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse  convened a review meeting regarding issuance of Unique disability IDs in Leh district on February 20.

Chief Medical Officer, Leh Motup Dorje apprised about the portal developed by Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment ( www.swavlambancard.gov.in ) where eligible beneficiaries can apply.

All SDMs were asked to submit calendar of camps scheduled to be held from next week in coordination with Health and Social Welfare Departments.

DC, Leh directed all concerned to give wide publicity to schedule of camps in advance through media, PRI members/public representatives, NGOs. He directed health department to immediately clear pendency of applications which have been already registered by beneficiaries.

He also stressed on weekly monitoring the progress achieved and to ensure 100% saturation by 31st of March. Emphasise was made to publicise self-registration to get UDIDs which can be done by the existing disability card holders by visiting to the website www.swavlambancard.gov.in.

By having UDID, beneficiaries will not need to make multiple copies of documents, maintain, and carry multiple documents as the card will capture all the necessary details which can be decoded with the help of a reader. The UDID card will be the single document of identification, verification of the disabled for availing various benefits in future. The card will also help in stream-lining the tracking of the physical and financial progress of beneficiary at all levels of hierarchy of implementation – from village level, block level, district level , state level and national level.
