DC, Leh, discusses work progress under Jal Jeevan Mission in Leh
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Leh, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse convened a meeting of District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) under Jal Jeevan Mission and discussed the progress of the scheme in Leh district with the members on September 9.
DC, Leh discussed the completion of functional household tap connections (FHTCs) in villages, schools/Anganwadi Centres, and health centers, providing new connections in remote areas and updating data on the Jal Shakti portal.
He took stock of the progress of the scheme in the blocks and sub-divisions of Leh district from the concerned PHE officials. The concerned PHE officials were asked to expedite the works and resolve the issues related to land at the earliest so that the work is completed on time. He also impressed upon District Superintending Engineer, PWD Leh, to clear the pending detailed project reports.
DC Leh exhorted the concerned officials to compare the list of the schools where FHTCs have been provided with schools that are non-functional/closed. Emphasizing the need for real progress, he also instructed the PHE officials to update the data on the Jal Shakti portal so that the completed works are reflected on the portal.
He inquired about the installation of FHTCs at health centers in Mudh, Tsaga, and Lingshed. The concerned officials were asked to provide FHTCs to residential schools in remote areas of Leh district such as Puga, Hanley, Nubra, and Durbuk.
The PHE officials apprised DC Leh of the issues faced by them.
DC Leh instructed the representation from the project management unit (PMU), JJM, to ensure that the data is updated on the Jal Shakti portal on time. He also informed the DWSM members of the UT Administration’s plan to soon conduct a hydrology survey in the villages of Leh district.
