DC, Leh discusses formation of District Skill Committee to promote skill under PMKVY
Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse discussed the formation of a District Skill Committee on March 15.
The objective of forming the District Skill Committee is to promote various activities and interventions under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and to ensure quality, consistency, and convergence in the skill development of the district.
DC Leh informed the officials about the objectives of the DSC, including integrating the efforts of public and private enterprise, providing skill development courses, and bringing them under a single umbrella to ensure effective coordination and monitoring. He exhorted the officials to identify and formulate the courses based on local demands to be rolled-out in a phased manner.
The officials were asked to form a core group of the committee. He impressed upon the officials to conduct meetings with stakeholders, including those engaged in the tourism and construction sector, to assess the demands of the industries.
Superintendent of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Leh, gave a presentation on the objectives and functions of the District Skill Committee to the officials. It included assessing the nature and skill-gap across the district, the mobilization of trainees, generating awareness among the unemployed youth about various vocations/trades, organising and conducting counselling sessions and Kaushal Mela, and the importance of databases from the various departments and the identification of courses.
