CEC Kargil Dr. Jaffer Akhoon meets Union Health Minister, seeks boost to healthcare in Kargil

Kargil :

Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, called on the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, J. P. Nadda, in New Delhi on April 23. The meeting focused on discussing the overall healthcare scenario in Kargil, including departmental operations and the challenges posed by the region’s unique and harsh geographical conditions.

Dr. Akhoon submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting critical aspects of the health sector in Kargil and appealed for the Union Government’s support in addressing the pressing issues.

An in-depth discussion followed in the presence of Dr. Manashvi Kumar, Joint Secretary (H&FW); Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary & MD NHM;  V. Hekali Zhimomi, Additional Secretary (H&FW); and other senior officials of the Ministry.

The CEC raised key demands including, Upgradation of District Hospital Kargil, Sanctioning of posts for doctors, paramedical, and support staff, Establishment of a Super-Specialty Hospital (Mini AIIMS) in Kargil, Setting up of a Nursing College in the district, Upgradation of PHCs, NTPHCs, and AAMs and Sanctioning of new healthcare centres across Kargil.

Minister gave a patient hearing and assured that all the concerns raised would be given due consideration in the best interest of the region’s healthcare development.

Dr. Akhoon expressed his sincere gratitude to the Union Minister for his time, attention, and assurance of support for strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in Kargil.
