CEC Jaffer Akhoon inaugurates 7-day National Handloom Day celebrations in Kargil

Kargil :

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon along with Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse tinaugurated the 7-day long National Handloom Day celebrations on August 7 at Hussaini Park, Kargil.

The day was organised by Handloom Department, Kargil.

During the inauguration, the CEC and DC, accompanied by district officers, inspected various stalls of the artisan showcasing a wide array of handloom and handicraft products. 

Approximately 50 stalls were set up by artisans, along with additional stalls by the Industries Department and J&K Bank, aimed to inform the public about various beneficial schemes.

CEC commended the Handloom Department for organizing such events and praised the artisans for their dedication and skill in producing quality products.  He noted the remarkable improvements in the artisans' work and encouraged them to focus on achieving superior finishing and quality.

CEC also urged artisans to take advantage of the Minority Loan provided by the Jammu and Kashmir & Ladakh Finance Corporation.

Highlighting a major achievement, the CEC mentioned that, upon his request, a stall was installed at the War Memorial Drass, which has generated around Rs 7 lakh in sales till date.

The CEC assured that the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil will continue to support unemployed youth and the new start-ups in the region.

District Superintendent Handloom, Arifa Lone extended a warm welcome to all guests and shared various achievements of the department.
