CEC, Feroz Khan takes stock of flash flood, mudslide situation at Sangrah

CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan visited Sangrah village on July 28 and took stock of the situation in the aftermath of flash floods and mudslides.

Feroz Ahmed Khan convened a review meeting of all concerned officers at Tourist Bangalow Sankoo to assess the present ground situation and the extent of damages. They also discussed the immediate short-term and long-term measures for the restoration of essential services and relief measures to the affected people.

The CEC instructed the officers of the Mechanical Department to clean the silt and stones from the stream path to avoid any further damage due to the diversion of the water flow. He also assured the locals to restore the water supply and electricity in the village on an immediate basis.

The concerned departments were asked to install surface connections to supply fresh water to the affected area. NHIDCL officers were asked to clean the Kargil Zanskar Road by clearing the mud and boulders at the earliest possible.

CEC assured the affected villagers that compensation for all types of losses will be provided as early as possible.

In order to ensure minimum losses in long run, CEC Kargil assured to construct the stream path wide and properly to ease the flow of water without any blockade. 

Concerned district and sub-divisional level officers were asked to take stock of damages due to flash floods and subsequent mudslides at Khawos Panikhar besides also taking immediate measures for restoration of essential services to the concerned population. 

DC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve instructed all the concerned district officers to remain present in the affected villages and ensure all types of necessary services without fail. He further directed the Revenue Department to conduct an assessment of all types of losses to provide timely compensation to the affected population.

CEC Feroz Khan and DC Santosh Sukhadeve also listened to the demands and grievances of the public and assured to make all necessary arrangements to ease their sufferings. 

The public representatives projected demand to construct stream path, reconnection of road, construction of a wide bridge, water and electricity supply, provision of compensation for trees, pasture lands, crops, cattle, and houses. 

Meanwhile, Councilor Syed Ahmad Razvi demanded to assess losses in other villages of Sankoo and Suru area where flash floods and heavy rainfall have caused damage to crops and trees.
