CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, along with Councillor Panikhar, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the flash flood-affected areas in Purtikchey on August 16.

During the visit, local residents informed the CEC about the severe damage caused by the flash floods, which have disrupted the primary water supply in the village.

The villagers highlighted that the damage has led to water scarcity in the area, severely impacting daily life and agricultural activities. They also reported that floodwaters have blocked the main road leading to Purtikchey.

While being briefed on the situation, the villagers requested the early restoration of the damaged water supply system and the clearing of the blocked road.

Dr. Jaffer Akhoon assured the villagers that their concerns are being addressed seriously and that immediate steps will be taken to restore the water supply and clear the road.

He emphasized that LAHDC Kargil is committed to ensuring the timely restoration of the affected areas and will direct the concerned departments to expedite the restoration work. He further stated that the administration is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide all necessary assistance to the people of Purtikchey.
