The Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar on behalf of LAHDC, and people of Ladakh congratulates HH the 37th Drikung Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche on being conferred the title of United Nations Mountain Partnership Ambassador by Eduardo Rojas-Briales, Assistant Director-General for Forestry of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) on May 6 at the Stimson Centre in Washington, DC.
“The appointment of His Holiness as the United Nations Mountain Partnership Ambassador will go a long way in inspiring good will towards sustainable development in the mountain regions of the world, besides will also give voice to the common issues and challenges faced by mountain communities on a global level” said the chairman.
The Chairman expressed his happiness on the United Nation’s recognition of the noble deeds being carried out by His Holiness for improving the quality of life and sustaining healthy environments in the world’s mountain regions.
