Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, CEC, LAHDC, Kargil convened a crucial session at the Dak Bungalow, Drass on December 19 and reviewed the region's winter preparedness.

The meeting witnessed the presence of Councilor Bhimbhat, Sub Divisional Magistrate of Drass, Naib-Tehsildar of Drass, and various Sub Divisional officers.

The SDM of Drass provided an overview of the winter stocking and preparedness status across different departments. Discussions revolved around the conditions of the Kargil-Srinagar Highway, highlighting its significance.

During the meeting, CEC initiated a telephonic conversation with the Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh, urging necessary directives to Project Vijayak authorities to maintain a clear passage for vehicular movement up to India Gate along the highway.

Additionally, a request was made to the GOC 8th Mountain Division to provide logistical support, such as accommodation for travelers and passengers at Gumri until the closure of the Kargil-Srinagar road. Assurances of logistical assistance were provided by the GOC 8th Mountain Division to the Chairman/CEC.

Dr. Jaffer directed all sub-divisional offices to ensure readiness and efficient resource mobilization for winter, aiming to minimize inconvenience to the residents of the region.
