BJP Leh presents one-year achievement report

A massive rally was held at Polo Ground Leh organised by Bharatiya Janta Party Leh to highlight one-year progress report of BJP Leh in particular and overall achievements of BJP in the centre on 26 May. Rao Inderjeet Singh, Union Minister of State for Defense was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
Dorje Angchuk, President Bhartiya Janta Party Yuva Morcha highlighted about the various schemes launched under BJP government for the benefit of the poor, elderly and underprivileged. He added that BJP Yuva Morcha would always support and stand against oppression and discrimination.
Rao Inderjeet Singh appreciated the patriotism of the people of Ladakh. Ladakh Scouts and people of Ladakh have always set an example of love for the nation during different wars with Pakistan and China. He said, “Unless the government have enough funds, it cannot initiate development schemes. Recently Prime Minister has launched a programme called ‘Make In India’, a vision designed to transform India into a global manufacturing hub and to make it successful, we need immediate foreign investment. Had the previous UPA government made appropriate plans and policies, we would have enough funds to develop the infrastructure of the country”. The aim of Prime Minister’s visit to different countries is to encourage foreign investment so that the infrastructure in rural areas can be improved. He assured that BJP would accomplish what UPA government failed to accomplish during its reign.
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Personal Secretary to MP Thupstan Chhewang presented the one-year progress report of Thupstan Chhewang, Member of Parliament to the gathering. While presenting the achievement report he said that in the last one year MP Thupstan Chhewang got approved Rs.438 crores for building 28 rural roads in Leh and Kargil District under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana ; 22 projects were approved to build 207 kilometers of rural road at a cost of Rs. 256.6 crore in Kargil district; proposed construction of NH301 (Sanku-Padum) worth Rs. 111 crores; Pashmina Promotion Program worth Rs. 30 crore; Rs. 650 Cr for 19 villages of LAC for 3 room homes, Schools, health centers, drinking water facilities, footpath, link road, TV and Mobile Towers etc; Rs. 227crore project for Flood Management Programme and special package for SNM Leh of Rs. 25 crores.
Under different Social Development works, Relaxation in (Qualification, Chest and Height) recruitment in Central Forces (ITBP, SSB, BSF, ITBP); Opened two new sections in class 9 of Kendriya Vidyalaya School Leh for 2014 and 2015 respectively and accommodated hundreds of students; relaxation on LPG cylinders from 6 to 12 and sanctioned DBTL and 28 Mobile towers were in border areas.
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal added that MP Ladakh had raised issues like UT status for Ladakh; Inclusion of Bhoti Language in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution; Opening of Kailash Mansarovar through Demjok; speeding up work at Nimoo-Padum-Darcha Road; Opening of Central University in Ladakh; Deemed University status to CIBS; Expansion of Kargil Airport and launch of Civil Air Service to Kargil; Construction of Zojila Tunnel; Construction of Airport at Padum and Civil Air Service to Nubra; Puga Geothermal Project has been initiated with Iceland Embassy & Power Ministry; compensation for affected areas due to breaching of artificial lake on the River Phuktal; new Air Terminal for Leh Airport is to be taken with Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Besides, he raised issues like Grid connectivity of Nubra valley with Alchi Project in Leh and to Northern Grid to be taken up under Deen Dayal Gramin Jyoti Yojana on priority basis; Scholarship Schemes for students who have been selected by AICTE to peruse courses in B. Tech, BDS, B.Com, BBA and Nursing and cheap air services to Leh.
Sayeda Ladakhi, Vice President BJP Mahila Morcha said that BJP supports girls education and women empowerment. With the effort of Thupstan Chhewang, recruitment of women in paramilitary forces has now been approved. She appreciated Police Department for initiating various measures for women’s safety in Leh.
Tsewang Tundup, President BJP Leh stressed that BJP Leh is still struggling to get UT status for Ladakh. He said that Congress has been criticizing MP Thupstan Chhewang that he is silent on the issue of getting UT status for Ladakh and questioned that why Congress did not raise the issue of UT in the last twelve years.
