Awareness on adopting principle of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) held
Ladakh Ecological Development Group (LEDeG) in collaboration with the Municipal Committee (MC) Leh under the Bermen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) project organised an on-site demonstration cum workshop to raise awareness about the adoption of the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) in waste management on October 27.
The focus was also on minimizing the waste through Reduce, Reuse & Recycle
The 3R facility, inaugurated by President, Municipal Committee Leh, Dr. Ishey Namgail, and Executive Director of LEDeG, Eshey Tundup marks a crucial milestone in sustainable waste management.
Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Leh, Stanzin Rabgyas stressed creating awareness among the general public through stakeholders to adopt the Principles of RRR’s waste management - REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE, and refurbish old items for reuse at RRR centre, Leh and the general public shall be provided incentives through waste recycling product to support and build a circular economy to make Leh Garbage free city.
Rabgyas also emphasized that the primary objective of the workshop is to create awareness among people about how to use the 3R center and the importance of segregated waste. He further discussed plans for an awareness campaign on 3Rs targeting Self Help Groups (SHGs).
Various stakeholders, including ward members, Goba Leh, Merchant Association, Hotel Association, Guest Houses, and other interested parties were present. It represents a commendable effort to promote sustainable waste management practices and foster a culture of responsible resource utilization in Leh.
