ALTOA seeks financial aid from Lt. Governor for international travel fairs

 A delegation from the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), led by President Tsewang Dorjey, met with the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on August 31 The meeting was also attended by Advisor Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner/Secretary L Franklin, and Secretary of Tourism Vikram Malik.

During the meeting, Tsewang Dorjey expressed gratitude on ALTOA's behalf for preparing the draft Tourism Policy for Ladakh. He requested the Lieutenant Governor's support in securing financial assistance for ALTOA’s participation in upcoming travel fairs, including ITB Asia 2024 in Singapore this October, OTM Mumbai in January-February 2025, South Asia’s Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) in February 2025, and ITB Berlin in March 2025. Dorjey also sought the LG's assistance in coordinating with stakeholders to present a unified Ladakh Tourism brand and to share relevant data, research, and insights to understand tourist preferences and trends better.

In response, the Lieutenant Governor advised ALTOA members to engage with leading travel agents and tourism agencies across various states and Union Territories to promote Ladakh as a tourist destination. He also outlined a strategy to approach international embassies and ambassadors to enhance the global promotion of Ladakh tourism. Additionally, the LG emphasized the importance of regulating tourist numbers to prevent tourism saturation and ensure a sustainable visitor experience in Ladakh.
