AIR, Kargil, should switch to modern means for maximum reach: Haji Anayat

All India Radio, Kargil carried out a fruit plantation drive and planted apricot and apple saplings on May 26 in Kargil. A total of 400 fruit plants including 200 Hybrid Apple and Apricot saplings each has been planted at 200 Kw HPT, Kurbathang and AIR Campus, Baroo.
Inaugurating the plantation drive, Haji Anayat Ali, Chairman J&K Legislative Council appreciated the team of Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Director General, AIR, Kargil and said that AIR should switch to other modern modes like live streaming the programmes on internet, developing android radio and FM stations which will enhance the reach of the station up to maximum audience.
He further told that he has taken up the matter for constructing Programme Generating Facility to start DD Kargil with the Ministry of Information Broadcasting for which land is already available and hope for a positive response.
Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Director General, AIR, Kargil told that keeping in view of the fragile topography and environment in Ladakh, AIR is trying its best to go Green and for which the plantation drive was started.
He informed that plantation in other substation of AIR has also been done and to replace the use of DG Sets and to reduce Carbon Emission, AIR has ordered for Green Energy in the form of Solar SPVs and Solar Water Heaters.
He further told that proposal for 1 MW Solar SPV for 200 KW HPT at Kurbathang is also in pipeline.
Kacho Turab Shah, ADC, Kargil, Sonam Angchuk, Programme Head AIR Kargil, Khadim Hussain, ARTO Kargil and staff of All India Radio Kargil were also present.
