The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) of Leh chaired a meeting to review the penetration and utilization of Aadhaar for improving governance in Leh district. The meeting took place at the VC Room of the DC Office, Leh.

During the meeting, Taief Mir, Assistant Manager of UIDAI Ladakh, presented an overview of the active Aadhaar centers and the saturation levels in the district. He reported that Aadhaar saturation stands at 36.56% for children aged 0-5, 122.75% for those aged 5-18, and 81.25% for individuals above 18 years of age. He also provided updates on the action taken by various departments to enhance Aadhaar enrollment and usage.

Mir further highlighted the need to activate non-functional Aadhaar kits and identify operators to manage them. He also informed the ADDC about the status of the verification process, pending cases, and the necessity of organizing more camps to raise awareness about Aadhaar registration and updates.

The ADDC emphasized the importance of increasing Aadhaar saturation across all age groups, particularly by ensuring that Aadhaar accounts are updated and linked to phone numbers and bank accounts to facilitate direct benefit transfers. He instructed officials to prioritize Aadhaar seeding and integrate Aadhaar into all government schemes to promote effective governance.

The ADDC also directed the Education Department and ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) to boost Aadhaar enrollment among children by setting up school registration camps. He urged the Chief Education Officer to engage school principals and teachers in disseminating student information. Similarly, the ICDS Department was instructed to organize camps and mobilize Anganwadi workers to spread awareness among the public. Additionally, banks were encouraged to integrate Aadhaar awareness into their financial inclusion initiatives.

The ADDC stressed the importance of resolving pending Aadhaar cases on the portal and called for widespread awareness efforts to encourage the public to update their Aadhaar details through the UIDAI website, the mAadhaar app, or at nearby Aadhaar centers.

The meeting was attended by Heads of Departments from various government offices and representatives from local banks.
