834 grams of Charas seized in Leh; one arrested

District Police Leh arrested one individual, Gam Bahadur Thakur, son of Chandra Bahadur Thakuri, a resident of Nepal and presently residing in Leh, and recovered approximately 834 grams of charas from his possession.

On May 6, 2025, Police Station Leh received credible information regarding the possession of narcotic substances at a rented accommodation in Upper Karzoo, near the Women’s Alliance, Leh. Acting swiftly on the input, FIR No. 59/2025 was registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and a police team from PS Leh, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class and independent witnesses, carried out a search at the said location.

Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution of the drugs, as well as to identify any other individuals involved in the network.

District Police Leh reiterates its commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking, and ensuring a drug-free society. The police also express their sincere gratitude to the public for their continued support and cooperation in this collective fight against drugs.
