Thangdumbur By-election results: Syed Ahmad Razvi declared winner with 1,395 votes

Syed Ahmad Razvi, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference candidate, secured 1,395 votes to win the by-election for the Thangdumbur constituency of the LAHDC, Kargil. Independent candidate Mohd Javad received 788 votes, while 17 votes were cast for NOTA. A total of 2,201 valid votes were counted.

The District Administration of Kargil successfully completed the vote counting for the by-election on October 9 at Suru Valley SubDivision.

The counting process was overseen by Additional SP Kargil, Nitin Yadav, along with Election Officers, Magistrates, Counting Supervisors, Observers, and Returning Officers/Assistant Returning Officers from the respective constituencies.

The counting began early in the morning at the Counting Room in Suru Valley SubDivision, Sankoo. All standard procedures and protocols were followed to ensure a smooth and transparent process, culminating in the official declaration of results.

The Election Authority congratulated the winning candidate and expressed appreciation for the cooperation of voters, political parties, candidates, Ladakh Police, polling and counting personnel, observers, transport stakeholders, senior officers of the UT Administration, and the media. Their collective efforts ensured the election was conducted smoothly and transparently.

The by-election for the 21-Thangdumbur LAHDC Constituency, held on October 5, 2024, saw a voter turnout of 75.52 percent, highlighting strong public participation in the electoral process.
