Munshi Habibullah Mission Higher Secondary School (MHMHSS), Kargil, organized a traditional dress festival on June 1, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region. The event showcased traditional attire worn by both students and faculty, alongside a diverse array of cultural programs.

Joint Director, Information, Ladakh/Additional Secretary Higher Education, Imteeaz Kacho, graced the occasion as the chief guest while Chief Education Officer, Kargil, SD Namgail was the guest of honour. District Officers;Councillor Choskore, Nasir Hussain Munshi; Councillor Baroo-Minjee Constituency, Advocate Khadim Hussain; Councillor Chuli Skambo, Altaf Hussain; Councillor Taisuru, Abdul Hadi; Director MHMHSS, Gulzar Hussain Kingi; Assistant Director, Sarvar Hussain Munshi, Principal, Dr. Vincy Abraham; parents, school faculty, students beside others were present on the occasion.

Joint Director of Information, Imteeaz Kacho, commended the school management, particularly for their dedication to the Rewa Na KASCO initiative, which supports specially-abled children and provides them with special care. He also expressed appreciation for the staff's exceptional work and devotion, describing this setup as revolutionary. Kacho emphasized the community's collective responsibility towards these special students as a noble cause.

Highlighting the school’s efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage, Kacho mentioned various initiatives such as ethnic food festivals, ethnic dress festivals, and ramp walks, which have significantly contributed to cultural enrichment.

Moreover, Kacho encouraged the promotion of local culture and heritage through storytelling and songs, particularly using the Ladakhi 'igay' as a platform to document and celebrate the region’s unique traditions. As an example, he cited the Information Department's magazine, 'Kargil Samzod,' which regularly features a dedicated chapter on elementary igay (Ladakhi alphabet).

Kacho also praised the performance of Imdad, one of the hosts of the event, for his confidence and effective presentation. He urged the school management to make efforts towards reducing homework and easing the burden of school bags, aligning with the National Education Policy. Additionally, Kacho appreciated the school's role in imparting quality education and helping students become good and responsible citizens.

Chief Education Officer SD Namgail congratulated the students for their performances and praised their inclusivity, particularly towards specially-abled children. He highlighted the school's commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities for all.

Principal Dr. Vincy Abraham highlighted the record participation of almost 800 students in the ramp walk and thanked the management, staff, and students for their efforts.

The event featured ramp walks by students of Rewa Na KASCO and the lower wing of the school, along with song and dance performances representing various tribes and regions of Kargil, as well as from Kerala, Punjab, and Nepal.
