LAHDC and Wall Art Projects Japan host vibrant Forest Art Festival in Ladakh
The Forest Art Festival, organized by Wall Art Projects, Japan, in collaboration with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, took place in Matho village on August 10-11.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, and Executive Councillor for Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel, were present on the inaugural day.
The ceremony began with a traditional reception at Matho Monastery, followed by an exhibition showcasing vibrant artworks by Japanese and Ladakhi artists. The festival drew a large crowd of local residents, artists, and visitors.
Hamao, the festival's coordinator, provided an insightful overview of the projects, emphasizing the powerful impact of art on local communities and its role in fostering cultural exchange.
In his address, CEC Tashi Gyalson praised both Japanese and Ladakhi artists for their exceptional contributions and the beautiful display of their work. He underscored the importance of their efforts in enriching cultural heritage and promoting tourism in the region. Gyalson also acknowledged the artists' commitment to sustainable development.
Executive Councillor for Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel, highlighted the significance of the festival and expressed gratitude to the organizers and community members for their dedication in making the event a success.
The festivities continued with the inauguration of the Forest Art Land plantation site by CEC Gyalson. The event concluded with a lively cultural performance by local villagers and a captivating handpan dance by a Japanese artist, adding a unique and enchanting touch to the celebration.
