Kala Utsav in Kargil: EC Feroz encourages promotion of Ladakh’s cultural talent

Executive Councillor for Tourism, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, attended the concluding ceremony of the UT-level Kala Utsav on October 9 at TFC Kargil.

The event was graced by Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Haji Mohd Hanifa Jaan; Director of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Manjushree Dayanand; Chief Education Officer, Kargil; Principal DIET, and several renowned artists from Leh and Kargil.

In his address, EC Feroz congratulated the organizers for hosting the Kala Utsav in Kargil and emphasized the importance of education in enhancing students’ skills and potential. He praised the participants for their exceptional talent and encouraged efforts to take such programs to national and international platforms to showcase Ladakh’s rich cultural heritage.

He also assured that the Hill Development Council, Kargil, would continue to support opportunities for students to nurture their abilities. EC Feroz requested MP Ladakh to allocate financial assistance from the MPLAD scheme to promote art and culture across educational institutions in Ladakh.

Responding to the demand for a dedicated gallery for exhibitions in Kargil, he promised to engage with the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil to explore the possibility. He also assured full support from LAHDC in promoting such cultural initiatives and encouraged the media to amplify Ladakh’s cultural richness.

MP Ladakh, Haji Mohd Hanifa Jaan, congratulated the students for their performances and expressed confidence in Kargil’s youth representing Ladakh at the national level. He urged them to seize every opportunity to develop their talents.

During the event, district toppers from Leh and Kargil showcased six art forms: visual arts, drama, storytelling, folk dance, and vocal music.

Nodal Officer for Kala Utsav, Sajjad Agha, delivered the vote of thanks, stating that the event provided a valuable platform for students to express their creativity and hone their skills.
