Drass Winter Carnival concludes
Forever in Operations Division successfully organised the Drass Winter Carnival 2024 (Jashn-e-Fateh) from February 1 to 6, celebrating the Rajat Jayanti of Kargil Vijay Diwas, marking 25 years since the Kargil War with major battles fought in the Drass sector.
In collaboration with the Himalayan Sports and Cultural Development Organisation, the event aimed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Drass Valley and promote talent in winter sports.
The youth of Drass showcased their skills in Ice Hockey competitions for both Men’s and Women’s teams. The Carnival featured a vibrant Cultural Carnival, Archery Tournaments, Balti Dances, and captivating martial arts performances by students of Army Goodwill Schools, creating a heightened sense of excitement among the community members.
The closing ceremony on 6 February marked the pinnacle of the regional competition, graced by various dignitaries, including the General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, General Officer Commanding, Forever in Operations Division, Commander, Drass Warrior Brigade, and representatives from Civil Administration and sports clubs.
General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, and other dignitaries engaged with the Drass community, expressing sincere gratitude to the Indian Army for organizing tournaments in this remote region. The Army's efforts were lauded for providing a platform for locals to celebrate and enhance their skills in this challenging and remote part of the country.
