Brand Ladakh Emporium opens in New Delhi
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) inaugurated Brand Ladakh Emporium at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi on October 16.
L-G congratulated the people of Ladakh on the successful opening of the emporium.
Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar said that with the inauguration of a second showroom under the label Brand Ladakh in New Delhi, the artisans/SHGs/entrepreneurs are getting benefits of selling their products at larger platforms.
The Emporium emphasizes providing a platform to the artisans/SHGs/entrepreneurs from Ladakh to promote and sell hand-crafted products which include metal crafts, wood carved crafts, thangka paintings, authentic pashmina shawls, stoles, mufflers and yak & sheep wool products, tie-dye shawls, organic jams, apricot oil, scrubs, lip balms, soaps, dried apricot, walnut, apricot kernel and sea buckthorn dried berries. It is a first of its kind that showcases the unique and indigenous value-added products from Ladakh in the heart of the capital.
Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Ladakh, Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS; Director, Industries and Commerce, Nazir Ahmad Shiekh, Resident Commissioner of Ladakh, Sonam Chosdon besides officials and entrepreneurs from Ladakh were present at the inauguration ceremony.
