In the first-ever Block Development Council (BDC) elections in Leh district, 8 Independents, 8 BJP members were elected as chairperson in Leh district on October 24. While in Kargil District, 11 Independents, 4 BJP members were elected as chairperson. 

In total , there are thirty-one blocks in the Ladakh region.
