Rambirpur United Youth organized 2nd Stakna Rinpoche running traditional archery competition at Rambirpur ground on December 25. Saboo Phoo Red, with 244 points secured the first position. A total of 23 teams participated in a day-long competition.

Brigadier Rajeev Thakur, SM, VSM Dy. GOC, 3 infantry division was the chief guest on the occasion. He said, “Although archery rule and scoring are significantly different from level to level, however, it is happy to see the effort to preserve the ancient archery system.”

He further added that the healthy competition helps in bringing the rich and age-old cultural heritage community frontward.

Stanzin Tamchos said that the main reason behind hosting the archery competition is to follow the path on the preservation of ancient heritage shown by 13th Stakna Rinpoche Nawang Tonyot Dorje.

Archer Saboo Red with 214 points stood second and District Archery Association Leh with 287 points scored the third position.

With 73 points Tsering Namgyal of Saboo Phoo Red team was the highest individual scorer. Tsewang Gurmet from Saboo Phoo Red scored second with 68 points and Rigzin Tonyot of District archery club Leh with 63 points scored the third position.
