Preparatory meeting for Ladakh Marathon 2023 held
Deputy Commissioner & Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Leh Santosh Sukhadeve reviewed preparation for the Ladakh Marathon 2023 at DC Mini conference hall on August 26.
DC Leh assured the organizers of full support by administration with necessary improvements and further instructed the concerned departments to provide all kinds of requirements during the Marathon. He urged them to keep close coordination and communication for effective and befitting conduct of marathon.
Further, he advised all the concerned departments and stakeholders to work in a collaborative and coordinated manner to make the event a successful one. He also informed that a whatsapp group will be formed with all the stakeholders and necessary information regarding the marathon will be passed on. Additionally, he directed the departments to ensure that the traffic advisories, contingency plans for emergency evacuation, and due process are in place well in advance for smooth conduct of the event.
Organiser, Ladakh Marathon, Chhewang Motup RIMO appreciated the administration for their full support in all the past events and also requested the same support and guidance in the forthcoming event. He apprised the DC of the various arrangements and facilities required for the successful organization of the world’s highest and most challenging marathon.
He also informed that except for three states/UTs, this year will have participants from all other states/UTs and 27 countries.
He also stressed the need to promote the event and spread awareness among the public in advance regarding the consequent changes in the traffic movement on the race day and advisories issued in that regard to cheer the runners, especially by the villagers on the roadside to encourage and boost their spirit.
The meeting also deliberated on the day-wise schedule of the Marathon and the need for a joint command center with a nodal officer from the administration.
SP Leh; SP traffic police Leh; ADDC Leh; Chief Medical Officer; Deputy Secretary, Culture Academy; DYSSO Leh; representatives from ITBP and other concerned officers/ officials were present during the meeting.
