MP Ladakh Mohmad Hanifa flags off Fit India Cycling Drive at Sindhu Ghat

Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Mohmad Hanifa, flagged off the Fit India Cycling Drive at Sindhu Ghat, Leh on January 24. The event, organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Regional Centre Zirakpur, was part of the Fit India Movement, envisioned by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle across the nation. 

The cycling route began at  Sindhu Ghat, passing through Shey Palace, a historical landmark. Cyclists then took a U-turn, traversing through local villages, allowing participants to experience the rich and ancient cultural heritage of Ladakh—the world's highest desert plateau. The ride concluded back at Sindhu Ghat, which also served as the finish line.

Approximately 70–80 cyclists participated in the event, representing various sports disciplines such as Boxing, Taekwondo, and Ice hockey. Their enthusiastic involvement highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship and fitness.

Prominent dignitaries graced the occasion, including Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon; Deputy Director General of the Sports Authority of India, Vineet Kumar; and Secretary, Youth Services & Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, along with other officials from the Union Territory and SAI.
