The Inter-School Sports Tournament 2025, organized by the Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Zanskar, concluded with a grand closing ceremony held at the sports stadium near TRC Padum on May 30.

The tournament, which commenced on May 28, saw enthusiastic participation from students across the region, showcasing not only their athletic talents but also true sportsmanship.

A total of 15 schools, from Higher Secondary to Middle School level, competed in handball and volleyball, making the tournament a vibrant celebration of youth and sports.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Councillor of Karsha Constituency, Stanzin Jigmet, who attended as the Chief Guest. Also present were in-charge teachers from various schools in the zone, along with all participating teams.

A highlight of the event was the final match in the Girls’ Under-17 Handball category, where Duzin Photang High School delivered an outstanding performance to defeat Government High School Karsha with a decisive 6-2 victory, claiming the championship title.

In his address, Councillor Stanzin Jigmet encouraged students to actively participate in school-level sports events to discover and nurture their talents. He urged students to consider sports as a potential career path. He also advised teachers to integrate sports activities alongside academics, allowing students to benefit from regular coaching and structured training.

The Zonal Physical Education Officer expressed his appreciation to all the guests and participants, emphasizing the importance and potential of sports in youth development. He thanked everyone for contributing to the successful execution of the tournament.

The Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries, distributed mementoes and certificates to the winning and runner-up teams, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence.
