Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan flagged off the 5th edition of Kargil International Marathon themed “Run for Apricot” from Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Biamathang, Kargil on September 19.

The marathon was organised by LAHDC Kargil in association with Ladakh Police, Sarhad-Pune, and District Administration Kargil. 1700 participants from Ladakh and across the country took part in the marathon.

The marathon was held in four different categories including 42 kilometers Full Marathon, 21 kilometers Half Marathon, 10 kilometers, and 5 kilometers.

The 42 KM race commenced with a special message by the Chief of the Army Staff. 

In the 5 km race, men's category below 40 years, Zahid Ali, Mehboob Haider, and Mohammad Hassan bagged first, second and third positions respectively. While in the women category, Zubida Banoo, Tsewang Yangdon, and Leela Banoo bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

Above 40 years of age group, male category Ghulam Mohammad, Muhammad Hassan and Muhammad Amin got first, second and third positions and in women category, Kavita Rathi, Swati Gelada and Manisha Karnawat bagged first, second and third positions respectively.

10 km, below 40 years men category, Zehran Nawaz, Akbar Ali, and Bilal Abass bagged first, second and third positions respectively. In the women's category, Jigmet Dolma, Tsetan Dolker, and Asiya Banoo grabbed the titles. 

Above 40 years men category, the position holders are Annadi Sirothia, Kamlesh Gandhi, and Muhammad Hussain. While in the women's category, Shubhamangala MI, Archana, Kamesh Gandhi, and Sadhana Shah won the titles.

In the 21 km race, men category, the position holders under the age group of below 40 years are Vilayat Ali, Khadim Hussain, and Manzoor Hussain. While the female position holders in the same are Tashi Ladol, Stanzin Chondol, and Stanzin Dolker.

Above 40 years, men category the position holders are Muhammad Baqir, Javed Ali, and Seetaram PK. In the women category, the position holders are Awanti Manish Warde, Radhika Rohit Godbole, and Dr. Jai Adity Kelkar.

In 42 km of race, the position holders under the age group of 40 years are Jigmet Namgial, Shabbir Hussain, and Nasir Hussain. In the female group, the position holders are Disket Dolma, Namgyal Lhamo, and Gulnaz Fatima.

Above 40 years of age group covering 42 km of race in the male category, the position holders are Asish Putambekar and Syed Shamsuddin. However, there were no female participants for the 42 km race in the above 40 age group.
