The 13th CEC Ice Hockey Cup 2021 organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kargil concluded at Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang on February 7.

In the men’s category, Drass Red beats Chiktan Ice Hockey Club with the margin of 3-2 goals while in the women’s category, Chiktan Women Ice Hockey Club won over Wakha Mulbekh Club with the margin of 1-0 goal in the penalty shootout.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan expressed happiness over the participation of 32 male and for the first time 5 female teams all across Kargil District in the CEC Ice Hockey Cup. He said that this is testimony to the growing popularity of this game among the youngsters in the district. 

Feroz Khan said that the LAHDC, Kargil is fully committed to the development of Ice Hockey in the district, and concrete efforts have been made in the last 3 years to promote this game, and as a result, the game has received humongous popularity amongst the youth. 

Talking about the establishment of the Ice Hockey rink at District Headquarter Kargil, he said that necessary steps will be taken for the allocation of land for the construction of an additional ice hockey rink this year.

DYSSO Kargil, Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma said that in the last few years, the performances of players of Kargil in Ice Hockey has remained phenomenal who have shown extraordinary skills and sportsmanship at zonal, district, UT, and national level bringing glory to the district.

Trophies, mementos, certificates of participation, silver and gold medals were distributed among the winner and runners-up teams while certificates were also given to the National Youth Volunteers (NYVs), REKs, and referees.
