Zanskar farmers educated on livestock diseases and management
A health cum awareness camp and outreach programme was held at Sani Village of Zanskar on July 3 to educate the general public and farmers about various livestock diseases, livestock management, and departmental schemes.
Nambardar Sani, Self Help Group (SHG) members, and many progressive farmers attended the awareness camp.
The program aimed to provide essential health care services to animals and create awareness among farmers about various departmental schemes like the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC), livestock management, and different livestock diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and brucellosis.
It also aimed to encourage SHG members to boost the economy of livestock breeders. As promised by the Director of Animal, Sheep Husbandry, and Fisheries (ASH&F), UT Ladakh, during his recent visit to Zanskar, two sets of carpet looms and charkha, along with feed provided free of cost, were handed over to Nambardar Sani Zanskar.
Additionally, it was informed that 30 bags of cattle feed were distributed among the progressive farmers.
Nambardar Sani expressed gratitude to the Animal Husbandry Department, Kargil, for organizing such a camp in the villages.
