Zanskar Buddhist Association raises developmental issues with Lt. Governor

A delegation from Zanskar, led by President of Zanskar Buddhist Association, Pasang Lhawang, met Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on February 25 to discuss key developmental concerns in the region.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Sanjiv Khirwar, Commissioner/Secretary to LG Dr. L Franklin, Secretary Education Bhanu Prabha, and officials from various departments.

Pasang Lhawang and other delegates raised several issues, including establishing a dedicated centre to conduct CBSE board exams in Zanskar; ensuring the smooth flow of traffic at Shingku-La without any inconvenience to the public; financial initiative for grazing of livestock in Zanskar; ensuring fire emergency service in Zanskar; uniform distribution of subsidiary component from the concerned councillor for procurement of feed for animals and the need to take immediate steps for sterilisation of stray dogs in Zanskar, etc.

LG assured to take action on the issue of establishing a dedicated examination centre in Zanskar for CBSE board exams and sterilisation of stray dogs, with necessary instructions given to the officials to engage NGOs from outside Ladakh and increase the financial incentive provided to volunteers to take part in the initiative. He asked DGP Ladakh to place a fire tender in Zanskar with trained policemen to tackle fire incidents in the sub-division. He instructed

Chief Engineer of Project Yojak to look into the issue of the traffic movement on Shingku-La. 

The LG asked the delegates to take up the matter of procuring feed for animals from the subsidy component with the concerned area Councillor as well.
