An online talk and awareness session on World Day Against Child Labour was organised by the Department of Political Science, Government Degree College (GDC), Drass in collaboration with Labour Department, Kargil on June 12.

Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC), Kargil, Raziya Khatoon spoke in detail about the global and national data of children engaged in different industries and the various acts which protect children against labour. She informed about the increase in the number of child labour cases during the COVID-19 pandemic because of various reasons such as debt, unemployment etc.

Raziya Khatoon also spoke about schemes available with Labour Department to help children of the labourers to continue their studies. She urged students to work as ambassadors for spreading awareness against child labour.

Assistant Professor, Jigmet Sangyas briefed about the significance of the day.
