A week-long awareness program on Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health, STI Prevention, Menstrual Health, and Hygiene concluded on May 24 in Padum, following its successful implementation across multiple regions of Zanskar. The campaign was organized by Choskul Tsogspa Zanskar in collaboration with the Directorate of Health Services, UT Ladakh, and Badlaav Foundation.

Held from May 19 to 24, the program covered areas including Lungnak, Stoth, Sham, and Jungkhor, with the objective of reaching adolescents in remote locations and equipping them with essential health-related knowledge.

The final session in Padum saw enthusiastic participation from students representing various schools across Zanskar.

Stanzin Dolma, Counsellor at SNM Hospital Leh, delivered an engaging and informative session, speaking at length on the dangers of substance abuse, the importance of STI prevention, and maintaining proper menstrual hygiene. Her open and empathetic approach to adolescent reproductive health prompted active student participation, with many asking questions and seeking clarifications.

Several dignitaries attended the closing session, including the President of the Youth Wing Zanskar, President of the Ex-Servicemen Association, and the Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Padum—demonstrating strong community support for youth-focused health education.

As a token of appreciation, the President of Choskul Tsogspa Zanskar presented Stanzin Dolma with a certificate of appreciation for her significant contribution. He also extended gratitude to Dr. Thinles, Director of Health Services, UT Ladakh, for facilitating and supporting the initiative.

The successful conclusion of this awareness program marks an important step toward empowering the youth of Zanskar with vital knowledge, confidence, and the foundation for a healthier future.
