Two-day training on energy conservation codes begins in Kargil
Ladakh Power Development Department in collaboration with The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI) commenced a two-day training program on June 3 at Auditorium Hall Kargil. The program focuses on the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) and Eco Niwas Samhita (ENS) under the theme "ECBC Rules and Compliance Procedure."
The training program emphasizes energy conservation in commercial and residential buildings, addressing the significant increase in energy consumption across the country. It also aims to ensure compliance with ECBC in UT Ladakh once it is notified.
J.K. Vyas and R.P. Poddar, Bureau of Energy Efficiency certified ECBC master trainers, presided over the sessions. They shared their experiences and provided detailed presentations on electricity consumption patterns in commercial and residential buildings and design interventions to enhance energy efficiency. The trainers also focused on various methodologies for implementing the ECBC Code in commercial buildings.
The ECBC and ENS are guidelines developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, to establish energy efficiency standards and reduce energy consumption in commercial and residential buildings.
Participants in the training include members from LPDD, PW(R&B), PW(PHE/I & FC), Rural Development Department, Mechanical Division, Kargil Development Authority, Tourism Department, Municipal Committee, Motor Garages, and KREDA.
