Under the scheme, Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, SNM Hospital Leh organised a two-day mega health camp on May 26 and 27 at Tangtse.

The medical camp was inaugurated by Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councillor for Health.

 

Gyal Wangyal, EC met with the local as well as tourist patients and enquired about their well being and facilities being provided in the PHC Tangtse.

  

He appreciated the medical field and staff for organising such camp in Tangtse and requested them to remain alert and attentive in their job of serving humankind. 

Gyal Wangyal assured that in the coming months and years, he will try his best to fill up all the vacant posts of doctors in the district.

A screening and adolescent counselling were separately conducted for both the boys and girls students by specialists.

Wangyal handed over the key of an Eco-Van ambulance for sub-center Sato sponsored by MP Thupstan Chhewang to Nambardar of Sato village and Eco-van ambulance sponsored by Minister for Cooperative and Ladakh Affairs Chhering Dorjey Lakrook for PHC Tangtse to Dr. Iqbal, BMO Tangtse.

Looking at the pressure on PHC Tangtse for catering the high number of tourist casualties during tourist season, Dr. Iqbal, Block Medical Officer, Tangtse requested EC Wangyal to strengthen the Medical Sub-Centre at Spangmik with advanced facilities to meet the requirements of the patients, especially during summer season.

 

EC Wangyal assured every possible help in strengthening Primary Health Centre Tangtse and Medical Sub Centre Spangmik.

 

Dr. Motup Dorjey, CMO, Leh requested the Managing Director of NHM J&K through Dr. Akhtar Ali, representative State Health Society and Dr. Imtiaz Programme Manager RBSK for their intervention in approval for extending new blocks in the PHC Tangtse at the earliest.

He also requested for filling up the vacant posts of the dental surgeon and medical officer that are lying vacant since a long time and said that during the screening of students, 90% of children were found with the dental problem in the Durbuk region.

 

Tashi Namgyal, Councillor Tangtse and Konchok Stanzin, Councillor Chushul spoke on the occasion. They highlighted the issues and problems being faced by people in the region due to lack of proper medical facilities and requested people to take maximum benefit from the two-day mega camp.
