To preserve the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh, the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Ladakh, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, organised a three-day Paper Conservation workshop at the Registering Office of Antiquities in Leh on December 5.

The workshop, attended by local authorities, experts, and enthusiasts, focused on the conservation of historical documents and artifacts to ensure their longevity for future generations.

Executive Councillor, Ghulam Mehdi emphasized on the importance of archives in maintaining a connection with the past and providing valuable insights for the present and the future.

Expressing gratitude towards the department and experts from Delhi, Mehdi emphasized the role of such initiatives in making Ladakh's archival department successful and ensuring the preservation of records that bridge the gap between generations.

Similarly, Project Associate from the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Kirtiple Singh Parmar provided an introduction to the workshop, highlighting its primary goal of preserving art, culture, and objects for the benefit of the new generation. The workshop aimed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in paper conservation to safeguard historical documents from deterioration.

The event saw the presence of Chief Planning Officer, Leh, Tsewang Gyaltson, Registering Officer, Khadim Hussain, and experts from IGNCA, who shared their expertise and insights during the workshop.
